Wencke Nilsson has been studying the Sublime for a long time. She looks at how this concept lives in our current society. Technological changes ensure that people get more and more control over the environment. She investigates how through these changes, something that is outside of humans can now also be created by humans. Wencke creates new worlds through manipulations in the image, through various analogue and digital operations. The work arises from many image edits, in which coincidences occur, this brings the unexpected together in the frame. Wencke is interested in the psyche of modern man and to what extent upbringing and the past have an influence on the future. She transforms this human aspect into an image of desire.
In her more recent work, she looks for new techniques that can accentuate the grand. The border between two-dimensional and three-dimensional becomes smaller. She is in a quest to find new grounds.
